The family

I want New London-Spicer to continue its long tradition as a fantastic school district. My father, wife, and I all graduated from NL-S, and my children are now in the school system. I know how much the school district provided for me, and now I want to do everything I can to help it provide a phenomenal education for many generations of students to come.

New London-Spicer schools helped to provide me the base on which I was able to build a well-rounded life. I was pushed by some absolutely excellent teachers to extend my learning in preparation for my academic endeavors. I was also pushed to build a meaningful life outside of school and work, as I built life-long passions far outside of my academic pursuits.

I lettered in three sports plus choir and Knowledge Bowl. I helped found a chess club and played just about any sport I could get my hands on. In college, I double majored to get a breadth of biology, took both Cricket and Bowling courses, and served as the Executive Vice President of the Interfraternity Council. My doctoral dissertation was 200 pages of dense content written at the same time that I won the city volleyball league with a group of close friends. My postdoctoral fellowship brought me a range of new research opportunities, and it forced me to broaden my cooking skills because the restaurant options were so narrow.

After over a decade away, I am incredibly grateful to be back home. I found a great fit at Life-Science Innovations, where I work as a Data Scientist, and being back and integrating back into our community has been wonderful. I see the school board as a great opportunity for me to utilize my skills for the public good. I am incredibly proud of my work on the board over the past four years, and I hope to continue to serve our community.

For fun, I love to play sports and games. I am a seriously competitive person, so I am always looking for a new challenge. I also love spending time with my family, particularly helping nurture a sense of wonder and curiosity in my children. I love to cook – especially anything that might be described as “putzy.” I will happily spend hours (often over the course of days) preparing a meal.

I look forward to the opportunity to continue serving the community that has given me so much. Please, reach out if you would like to discuss any issues you see facing the school district or even if you would just like to get to know me better.
